The water wall of the furnace is the heating surface arranged around the furnace, and the flowing medium in the tube is generally a two-phase mixture of water or steam and water. If the boiler is a steam boiler, the water wall is mainly an evaporative heating surface; if the boiler is a hot water boiler or a supercritical pressure boiler. Then the water wall is mainly the heating surface.


In the natural circulation boiler furnace, if the working fluid in the tube flows upward, the water wall is also called the rising tube. The basic function of the water wall is: ① Absorb the heat of the flame in the furnace. Because the flame temperature in the furnace is high and the smoke velocity is very low, this heat absorption is mainly carried out by radiation, and the temperature of the flue gas is cooled to a sufficiently low degree at the furnace outlet. ②Protect the furnace wall. Due to the existence of the water wall, the flame can only partially or completely not touch the furnace wall, thus playing a protective role. In addition, the water wall can also play a role in suspending the furnace wall and preventing slagging on the furnace wall.
